Haute Couture, how it works

Can all brands use the term “Haute Couture”? Sometimes it seems confusing, the terms merge and the consumer is lost among so many hypotheses. Couture has became a term of the pop culture. But Haute Couture is a highly protected term, regulated by The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode. Not every designer can call themselves a couture designer. In fact, according to this organization, there are only 14 designer who can bear the haute couture label. To do so, they have to work with high quality, rare fabrics, crafted with meticulous attention to detail by skilled artisans and meet a series of strict criteria such as making made-to-order designs for private clientes, have an atelier in Paris that employs 20 full time staff members and at least 20 full-time technical people and present a collection of at least 25 original designs, at Paris Couture Week, twice a year, in January and July.

An Haute Couture fashion show is like a theatre. The garments, the music, the models, they all work together to create a moment, pass emotions, make a dream. All to make haute couture am emblem of elegance and sophistication. Something precious, to be appreciated as works of art.
